How to Record Steps to Reproduce a Problem on Windows

Using Steps Recorder

1. Open Steps Recorder:
  1. Press the Start button, type Steps Recorder in the search box, and select it from the list.
2. Start Recording:
  1. Click Start Record. Perform the steps that lead to the issue. Steps Recorder will capture the actions and take screenshots automatically.
3. Add Comments:
  1. If needed, click Add Comment to highlight a part of the screen and add notes. This can help explain specific issues more clearly.
4. Stop Recording:
  1. Once you’ve completed the steps, click Stop Record. Review the recorded steps to ensure everything is captured correctly.
5. Save the Recording:
  1. Click Save. Choose a location to save the file, name it, and click Save again. The recording will be saved as a ZIP file.
Sharing the Recording
To share the recorded steps:

1. Locate the ZIP File:
  1. Find the saved ZIP file on your computer.
2. Attach and Send:
  1. Attach the ZIP file to an email or upload it to a support ticket. Provide any additional information that might help diagnose the issue.

Edit Settings:
  1. You can adjust the settings in Steps Recorder by clicking the down arrow next to the help icon and selecting Settings. Here, you can change the output location, screen capture settings, and more.
Privacy:
  1. Review the recording for any sensitive information. Steps Recorder captures everything on your screen, so make sure to remove any private data before sharing the file.
